Larry Thomas provides strategic counsel to companies, from local start-ups to global enterprises, with a particular focus on information technology, intellectual property licensing and other commercial transactions that impact daily business operations.

experience

For more than 20 years, Larry has advised clients in the financial services, health care, technology, retail, manufacturing and government sectors. Larry has negotiated a vast amount of customer-side and vendor-side IT, IP licensing and outsourcing transactions, ranging from complex IT development, SaaS, and IT and business process outsourcing transactions, to routine software license, sponsored research agreements, publishing contracts, professional services, re-seller, hardware purchase and maintenance, and market data transactions. Larry also possesses a deep understanding of data privacy and security relating to both health care and financial services. From his experience as in-house and outside counsel, Larry has a unique understanding of the marketplace and the issues that matter the most to business teams and their advisers.

Highlights of Larry’s practice include the following:

  • Primary nationwide technology counsel and firm for the Mayo Clinic and other health care entities;
  • Responsible attorney for strategic technology initiatives at a Boston-based global mutual fund firm and an elite Connecticut-based hedge fund;
  • Dedicated outside counsel for a global software company;
  • Best-practice contract processes development and knowledge transfer with in-house legal departments in the health care, retail, manufacturing, government and telecommunication sectors; and,
  • Lead negotiator for thousands of corporate commercial transactions, domestic and international, including EMR systems, warehouse and health care robotics, e-commerce initiatives, brokerage platforms, artificial intelligence, global outsourcing, content development and pharma collaborative initiatives.          

Larry joined Feinberg Hanson in 2018. Larry’s previous employment includes co-founding the technology law firm Thomas & Bonnabeau, PA, practicing at Nixon & Peabody LLP, and serving in-house at Fidelity Investments.
